HO/HOn3 Kit 102 - the Eureka Springs Engine House
sold out

The Eureka Springs Engine House, in HO/HOn3, contains over 100 of my beautifully detailed resin castings and I made about 75 of them especially for the engine house. The workbenches and shelves have more clutter, junk, tools, etc. than ever before. I developed new casting procedures that now allow me to reproduce features I have always wanted to. The castings have more depth and deeper undercuts. Wait till you see them! There are of course new junk piles with engine house stuff piled high, large wooden bins of junk, a large crane, a bathroom with toilet and sink, an office, and assorted crates, barrels, and drums. The machine shop is especially nice. One end is a two-sided hand carved stone wall. The dock is also a resin casting. Inside is a lathe, drill press, and table saw. But my favorite casting is the donkey sled. It is a single piece with a wooden water tank, and a small oval steel oil tank. There are barrels, tools, and junk also cast in place. I also made new windows and doors for this kit!

When you see how visible the interior of the Springs is, it becomes evident why construction is board on board on batten. This allows total control of the detailing of the wood inside and out. Wood grain and splits, coloring, and assembly can be modified to meet the builders taste. I employ weathering and staining techniques that are fast, easy, and yield excellent results. I spent a great deal of time working on the templates. They must be accurate and free of mistakes, and they are! They are digitally reproduced so there is no loss of accuracy as is found with conventional printing and copying method.

Corrugated aluminum is supplied for the main roof and those holes are prototypically accurate! The Diamond and Caldor engine facility was the inspiration for this kit. Color signs, wire, acetate, and styrene tubing complete the materials list. Last is my construction manual. It is the original spiral bound book! Tons of photographs and diagrams, clear and logical instructions that focus on what is important to help you build a great model; weathering and cluttering!
