the BlueSky Company Warehouse

BlueSky Company Warehouse was my first kit and will always be special to me. A mixture of several ideas, the original concept came from an article in the Gazette about a wonderful old dilapidated barn constructed in O scale. The additional buildings were added and the diorama was born. Originally named “Parvin’s” after a creek near my home, the BlueSky name was adopted from a song title by an Australian band.

The rear of the diorama features as much detail as the front. This has become a standard design element in all of my Signature Series kits.  The small stone cookhouse is three resin castings with interlocking stone corners for a seamless look, and prototypical feel.

The side shed is crammed with junk and clutter, including a good many small boats. This was the perfect lead-in to Shelby’s and it set the stage for a kit release several years after BlueSky sold out.

The rear yard is a mixture of color and texture. The haphazard nature and lazy attitude of the scene is methodical and by design. Texture plays an important role in the creation of a believable diorama and for that matter a miniature railroad.
