O'Neills Fabrication is a two-part kit. Part One includes the structures, structural components, and a great selection of details to get you going. Part two consists of the resin and metal detail castings to fully detail the diorama.

Part One of O'Neills Fabrication is pictured here and includes all of the structures, structural components, and details surrounding the welding shop exterior as shown. The level of detail is simply amazing as you can see. The O Scale version is a faithful upscale of my award winning HO Scale Kit preserving the wonderful O'Neills story and character yet includes so much more. A special thank you to Ken Karns for weathering the welding shop siding. Ken's skills are becoming well known throughout our hobby. Thanks Dr. Grunge!
Everything you need to construct O'Neills Fabrication to the stage shown in the photographs is included in Part One. This includes my well known comprehensive instruction manual with thoughtful techniques you can master and replicate, accurate scale templates, incredibly fine laser made details never before imagined or available, laser cut windows, doors, and wall framing, beautiful new signs meticulously researched and reproduced for historical accuracy, new laser cut shingles, ribbed and corrugated roofing, and a beautiful selection of nearly 100 resin and white metal castings.
Part Two includes all of the surrounding details as well as the fully detailed welding shop interior. A supplemental construction manual includes scenery and diorama completion instructions. Part two ships with a traditional SierraWest Kit Box and color labels so you will own a complete kit.
The attention to the smallest detail is evident. Story telling is paramount in the development of the O'Neills series. Instructions are provided leading you through every phase of construction including tool selection, assembly, weathering and aging, diorama composition, and scenery creation and application. It is of utmost importance to me that the techniques I develop and utilize are reproducible for modelers of all experience levels. When you view the pictures of O'Neills remember this, SierraWest kits are unique in the level and amount of detail provided. Since all four sides are fully detailed, you have a ton of flexibility in placement and view-ability.
I love the sides of the welding shop and the wall details. O Scale is a special scale to model and manufacture in. It allows an incredible level of detail affording the builder the joy of adding small, fine details like scale hangers for all the welding hoses. Small labels adorn many of the bottles and cans and the signs included are prototypically accurate and help tell the O'Neills story. Be sure to study the photographs and the fine details like the welding shop mask and shelf brackets.
Removing the covered driveway exposes the raised concrete slab (resin casting) and sump underneath. The wonderful oil drum tipping cradle is one of my new laser details. Oil drums were off loaded from trucks using the tires to cushion their landing. They were then clamped onto the cradle and tipped over the sump where the oil would drain and be pumped into the large O'Neills oil tank.

What is a “Special Order” kit?
These are older kits that I do not make often. Instead of paying in full for this kit, you simply make a $50 non-refundable deposit with the balance due when your kit is ready to ship. If you would like to reserve this kit simply check out like normal and pay the $50 plus a small shipping fee. (This is a bookkeeping thing.) Once your kit is ready I will send an email with further instructions. Kits usually take about 90-120 days to ready for shipment. the O Scale version is a faithful upscale of my award winning HO Scale diorama (yeah, it's already taken a first place award!) But... I didn't just reproduce the HO Scale kit in O Scale, I added a ton of extra details and detailing... for example the awning over the fueling dock includes wall anchors, a frame, and guy wire supports. More stories are told including the incredible gas pump scene. New weathering techniques take advantage of the wonderful relationship the sierrawest paints have with chalk! These techniques were used on the acetylene tanks, large oil tank, and the corrugated roofing. New laser cut shingles that are so much closer to individual hand laid shake shingles... Re-imagining the way the details are cast. For example - the acetylene tanks. These are so very important to the diorama so I cast them in resin instead of metal. This allows a whole new weathering technique to be utilized. The resin tanks are more difficult to cast but this is the very essence of the two-part kit! I can go that extra mile and not cut corners! (Please only order Part Two if you have ordered Part One.)
